The founders of Google invented Page Rank 22 years ago and altered the internet forever. Some things that distinguished Page Rank significantly from current ranking algorithms:
As votes, web links count. Every vote is equivalent in the beginning. Pages receiving more votes (and ranks higher) become more crucial. More significant websites cast more votes. Let's start with a basic principle.
This idea created the foundation for the initial Google Page Rank patent and rapidly helped it become the world's most famous search engine. The more votes (links) a page points to, the more page rank (and other possible link-basis signals) it accumulates. Page ranks may very fast become extremely complicated — but to simplify too much. The more votes it collects, the more outbound links it can transfer to other websites.
