 Literature Study Guides 1776
1776 is the best-selling narrative work by the well-known historian David McCullough. McCullough became enthusiastic about 18th in his previous book, John Adams's biography, and became the object of his next project in the year which defined America's fight for independence. McCullough turns the reader away from the discussions of the Philadelphian Continental Congress and the signing by the Ragtag Citizens ' Army of the Declaration of Independence on the Proceedings under General George Washington. It is a simple matter: the Declaration of Independence would take place without the perseverance of Washington and its Continental Army during the difficulties of 1776.
